This past weekend it rained horribly in most parts of South and Central Florida; so much so that even Orlando’s Pride Festival (Come out with Pride) needed to be rescheduled (November 13th). Having said that the events were plentiful here in South Florida (I guess everyone owns boats…LOL). Friday night Broward House featured their annual gala at the Signature Grand this year entitled The Cotton Club. As usual, the costumes were great, the event spectacular and the shows amazing…all to raise money for one of Broward County’s most beloved not for profits. Congratulations to Terry, Nikki and the entire Broward House team, for once again producing a fabulous gala. Friday night Broward House featured their annual gala at the Signature Grand this year entitled The Cotton Club. glbt-events-south-florida-2Starting Friday night and going all weekend Sidelines presented a “Knock Out Cancer 4 The Cure” (a new not for profit dedicated to help assist people dealing with breast cancer) benefit which pitted people against one another boxing to raise money for this new not for profit. This event was lots of fun and of course raised much needed funds.

glbt-events-south-florida-3On Sunday afternoon the Pride Center produced “The Eyes Of Bingo” which was a benefit for the Smart Ride 8 and they invited everyone to come in the biggest, flashiest lashes they could find and from what I saw lashes were everywhere! Sunday night, I finally took some me time for myself and a couple of friends and we went to Alibi for dinner. I had the award winning burger which is just delish…..The only thing left on my plate were crumbs! Afterwards we went inside to hang out and ran into owners Jackson and Mark who were hanging with a group of friends including Catering Manager Little Jeff and owner of Twist, Joel Steadman and his boyfriend Peter. The Alibi was very busy and I got to see people I haven’t chatted with in a while. It was a fun night and I was still home by 10pm to watch the finale of the Housewives of New Jersey (ok, ok, I am a reality show junkie!)
