ru-paul-drag-race-4-alisa-summers-0I am very happy to announce that Hotspots Magazine has once again entered into an agreement with Logo TV to be the only gay magazine in the state of Florida that interviews the eliminated contestant from RuPaul’s Drag Race every week. This year I am even more excited as 3 girls from Florida (my good friend Latrice Royale, Alisa Summers and Lashauwn Beyond) are in the competition. I hope you all enjoy the first interview with Tampa favorite Alisa Summers.

ru-paul-drag-race-4-alisa-summers-1I am very happy to announce that Hotspots Magazine has once again entered into an agreement with Logo TV to be the only gay magazine in the state of Florida that interviews the eliminated contestant from RuPaul’s Drag Race every week. This year I am even more excited as 3 girls from Florida (my good friend Latrice Royale, Alisa Summers and Lashauwn Beyond) are in the competition. I hope you all enjoy the first interview with Tampa favorite Alisa Summers.

1) At what age did female impersonation become an interest?

I have always wanted to be an entertainer but I am very shy as a boy. Once I was legal, at 18, I got the fever for drag and I started at 19.

2) How did you pick your name?

I was a huge fan of TLC and my favorite was Lisa Lopez. My drag mother, Jocelyn Sommers, suggested adding an A to Lisa to get Alisa and then of course I took her last name.

3) How did you go about getting on “RuPauls Drag Race.” Tell me about the experience?

I was supposed to be on season 3 as I was an alternate. Since everyone showed up I didn’t get to do it. For season 4 they saw my growth in my tape and after many months I was chosen.

It’s much more difficult to do drag on a TV show then it is on stage as it is 14 to 16 hour days, but it was amazing to be on the show.

4) Who do you want to win?

2 of the girls I am rooting for is Phi Phi and Latrice. Phi Phi because she is very similar to me and Latrice because I know here from the Florida pageantry scene.

5) Tell me about the man behind Alisa Summers?

My boy name is Alex and I am a very hard worker as I have 2 day jobs. I am very quiet and laid back. I like to stay home with my dog and hang out with my friends.

6) Tell me something people would be surprised to know about you.

People would be surprised to know that I had to quit my well paying job to go film RuPaul’s Drag Race.

7) What’s ahead for Alisa Summers?

Because I am the first girl to go I want to put my hand in the pot to do everything, whether it be music, entertainment, or anything else. I am a great entertainer and I want to tour the country to show them what I got.

You can catch Alisa Fridays and Saturdays at the Honeypot; show time is 11:30pm. You can also follow her at:
