lgbt-events-south-florida-0A week ago Wednesday was the much anticipated “Nuts About Yogurt” Grand Opening on Wilton Drive. The event featured a buffet of scrumptious food supplied by the new Tropics thanks to Tony Dee and Charlie Mielke. I had Pistachio yogurt with chocolate sprinkles that was so good I practically liked the cup…YUMMY! In addition 10% of the night’s proceeds were donated to Broward House! Friday night Growl at Bill’s featured their monthly Bear Appreciation party with special guest star the very sexy Heath Jordan. Bill’s was even busier than a normal Friday as everyone wanted to see this sexy furry man. I have to tell you he was so sweet and shy it was a pleasure to meet him back stage. In addition, he is even sexier in person. Working in the media definitely has its bonuses! Saturday night Stonewall National Museum & Archives presented legendary comedian Kate Clinton at their Our Stars event and I am told from our photographer (yes, there are events I miss…LOL) that she was amazing!

lgbt-events-south-florida-3Sunday was the Equality Florida Miami Gala at the beautiful Bass Museum of Art in South Beach. The 2012 award honorees were: Miami Herald Journalist Steve Rothaus and the Miami Dade Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. While there I was introduced to one of the new Miami Housewives who is not only beautiful but has a professional career (so yes, Bravo is bringing back the show). With record attendance for the Miami Gala they exceeded their financial goals for this event. Sunday night I headed back to Bill’s (bookended my weekend at Bill’s) for Misty Eyez’s benefit to send her to Chicago for the Miss Continental Plus pageant. Tons, well it seemed like tons, of entertainers showed up to support one of South Florida’s favorites!

lgbt-events-south-florida-9lgbt-events-south-florida-10Michelle Williams has become one of the prominent actresses of our generation. She first caught my attention in Brokeback Mountain and I have never stopped watching her intense and honest work. Michelle’s performance as Marilyn is electrifying and really touches the soul of Marilyn.

lgbt-events-south-florida-11During Marilyn Monroe’s (Michelle Williams) first trip to London to film The Prince and the Showgirl with Sir Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh), she befriends Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne), an ambitious 23-year-old Third Assistant Director on the set.  As their relationship progresses, Colin’s focus shifts from making his way in the film business to rescuing her from the pressures of celebrity life. When Monroe’s new husband, playwright Arthur Miller, makes a brief trip to Paris, Clark takes the opportunity to introduce her to the world outside of Hollywood fame.  Based on the true story by Colin Clark, this memoir describes a magical week in which Monroe opens herself up to a stranger and finds in him a confidant and an ally.  My Week with Marilyn is now available on DVD and Blu-ray at stores nationwide and online.
