In the middle of South Florida’s dog days of summer, Sidelines Sports Bar continues to add more fun to its playbook of activities. While July and August tend to be the warmest and typically slower months for South Florida’s small businesses, Sidelines offers an array of goings-on for its loyal patrons and visiting clientele.

On Sunday, July 15, 2012, Sidelines’ 3rd Annual Cook-Off Competition kicks off. This friendly competition showcases the cooking abilities & recipes of some of our local wannabe chefs by pitting rival customers (chefs) for fame, prizes and bragging rights.

Similar to last year’s competition, each Cook-Off date will feature a specific food item and each contestant’s creation will be judged by a panel of three (3) judges.

To register, contestants must see a Manager on Duty and obtain the “Basic Cooking Rules” and “Judging Criteria” for the competition. Since there is limited availability to the number of entrants for each Cook-Off contest, it is suggested that contestants register as soon as possible, but no later than the Friday before the competition date.

The 2012 Cook-Off Competition dates and food categories are as follows:

Sunday, July 15th @ 5:00 PM                      Chili Con Carne

Sunday, August 5th @ 5:00 PM                    Pasta

Sunday, August 26th @ 5:00 PM                  Summer Salads

The First Place Winners in each category will receive a cash prize of $100, the Second Place Winner will receive a $50 Gift Card from Sidelines, and the Third Place Winner will receive a $25 Bar Tab.

At each event, if supplies last, customers will be able to taste each entry, and judge for their favorite. A “People’s Choice Award” will be given to the winner.

Something new added to this year’s cook-off is an “Employee Cook-Off Challenge”, in which Sidelines’ staff will have a chance to compete against each other with their own famous recipes. Of course, customers will have a chance to taste and vote for their favorite dish by secret ballot.

The “EMPLOYEE COOK-OFF CHALLENGE” will take place on Sunday, August 9, 2012 at 5:00 PM.

“This continues to be a fun event here at Sidelines and I’m sure this year’s Cook-Off Competition will be even better and more spirited”, commented Laurie Whittaker, owner of Sidelines Sports Bar.
