Celebrate ORGULLO Dance Contests are now taking place!

Back by popular demand, the 2012 Celebrate Orgullo Dance Contests are back, and this year it has have expanded to include South Florida’s most popular gay bars and clubs with over 14 opportunities compete. Winning couple from each participating club will go on to the finals on the stage at Celebrate Orgullo on Oct. 6, 2012 to compete for the title of Dance Divas 2012 & $500+ of prizes! Started in 2011, Celebrate Orgullo is a festival showcasing Hispanic LGBT Pride during Hispanic Heritage Month -the first event of its kind in the U.S.  

“Orgullo,” Spanish for “Pride,” will coincide with events throughout the country in commemoration of Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15 through October 15, and will once again come to the sands of Miami Beach at 11th Street & Ocean Drive on Saturday, October 6, 2012.

Proud to produce the Annual Celebrate Orgullo festival is Unity Coalition | Coalición Unida, a Florida 501(c)3 non-profit whose focus is the leadership, protection & promotion of Latino|Hispanic LGBTQ rights (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning) – The only organization of its kind in South Florida since 2002.

For the preliminary dance competitions, each participating venue will craft its own rules, and contestants should contact each venue for details.  The winning couple from each bar will compete and perform on stage at Celebrate Orgullo, where the audience and a distinguished panel of judges will select the Grand Prize winners.

The schedule for the upcoming competitions is (by the time you are reading this there have already been contests at Move, Score, Palace and Twist):   

Jamboree (7005 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami) – Saturdays… Sept 8, 15 & 22nd

Wet Bar (1728 SW 8th Street, Miami) – Friday, September 14th

Solare Coliseum (3635 NW 78 Avenue, Doral) – Saturday, September 15th

Manor – Noche Latina Saturdays (2345 Wilton Drive, Fort Lauderdale) – Sat, Sept. 29th

Celebrate Orgullo is free and open to the public and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of food and beverages will benefit our LGBT Youth Scholarship Fund and year round programming of Unity Coalition|Coalicion Unida, Inc.
