TYH bannerTibeca MedAesthetics is a medical firm that provides our community with state-of-the-art, minimally-invasive cosmetic medical and surgical care from Board Certified physicians with a focus on education and public safety.  They will listen to your specific needs and provide education on skin and body care treatments that will achieve your personal goals. Headed by Dr. Jason Shapiro, the group has created an atmosphere that focuses on beauty and wellness from the inside out. They take great pride in complementing these procedures with medical-grade and organic skincare products and services provided by licensed aestheticians.

The firm recently moved all operations from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami; their new office is absolutely gorgeous, and it’s still under construction, it’s going to look amazing when all is said and done and they are all settled in. If you are looking to be pampered, taken care of, and made to feel special, by someone who really cares about the gay community and health issues associated with HIV/AIDS, then you have come to the right place. Dr. Shapiro sat down with me to explain more about the practice that specializes in Plastic Surgery as well as HIV aesthetic treatment, how rewarding his job is, and why he works with our community.

TYH docWhere did you go to Med School?

I went to Medical School in Israel at Teknion in Haifa. I grew up in South Florida

Tell me about what treatments are common for gay men.

I do a lot of Botox, facial lipoatrophy treatments, as well as medically supervised weight loss.

As it pertains to your gay clientele, what are you most excited about?

I’m most excited about the lipoatrophy treatments, which give HIV positive men the ability to be social again. I really dig into patient’s care and treatment, I make sure my patients are taking their meds and if there is a need, I refer patients to other doctors who specialize in HIV treatment. The gay demographic is growing the fastest in my practice- I have patients coming from all over- as far away as Paris France coming for the treatment.

TYH radiesseAre lipoatrophy treatments expensive? What products do you use?

We have really worked hard to make the treatment affordable because it’s easy, and not time consuming but it has great results. I mostly use Radiesse, an amazing product that helps patients see major changes in their face and lasts longer than some other treatments.

Why don’t more doctors offer this treatment to our community?

A lot of doctors shy away from the procedure because of fear of a needle stick, but I feel comfortable, I have almost 3 years of experience performing the treatments.  I often see a 180 degree difference in emotional impact after patients receive the treatment, so it’s worth it to me to help people who are so grateful for the treatments.

Despite the fact that Dr. Shapiro sees a lot of HIV cases, Tribeca MedAesthetics is a fully operations plastic surgery clinic. They offer a full range of products and services that are sure to please and will work to make the treatments fit your budget. For more information, visit them on the web at  http://tribecamed.com
