Tampa’s GaYBOR Business Coalition will be hosting a “beach blanket bar crawl” which will take revelers through ten different businesses in the GaYBOR District. Touted as a fun “end of summer” event, the proceeds will go to the GaYBOR Coalition and will help supplement many of their other yearly events. The crawl can be seen as a fun way to get to know some of the members of the GaYBOR Coalition and their businesses, including some that people may not have thought to frequent before.

Hamburger Mary’s, at 1600 E. 8th Ave. upstairs in Centro Ybor, is the first stop on the crawl. The event begins there at 5 p.m. with everyone enjoying a free shot. Shots are offered at every stop along the way; the other stops include MC Film Fest (1901 N. 15th St.), Agora (1515 E. 7th Ave.), Ybor City Wine Bar (1600 E. 8th Ave., Downstairs in Centro Ybor), Liquid Tampa (1811 N. 15th St.), R Bar(1820 N. 15th St.), Bradley’s on 7th (1510 E. 7th Ave.), Ybor City Social Club (1909 N. 15th St.), GBar (1401 E. 7th Ave.), and The Honey Pot (1507 E. 7th Ave.). When the bar crawl ends at The Honey Pot, everyone in attendance will be given free admission to the After Glow party, where special guest DJ Ranny from Brazil will be spinning.

Funds raised from this event help the Coalition organize events throughout the year that people love, the next of which will be the decoration of GaYBOR for the holiday season in November and December. In addition to decorating their own storefronts, the members of the GaYBOR Coalition help decorate parts of 7th Avenue and other intersecting streets with bows, wreaths, tinsel, and other adornments. Through the work of the Coalition and other assorted volunteers, the GaYBOR District is made beautiful for the holiday season and morale is even higher than normal.

If you’d like to participate in the bar crawl, you can purchase a lanyard which grants you admission to all of these establishments for just $15. Lanyards are on sale at MC Film Fest, Hamburger Mary’s and Ybor City Wine Bar. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Ybor City Wine Bar owner and GaYBOR Coalition membership and events coordinator Jayme Kosar at (813) 999-4966.
