whsf_banThis past week was one of the craziest of the year. It started last Tuesday with the opening night of Book of Mormon (can you say Amazing?), and then on Wednesday I was lucky enough to be invited to a luncheon with the cast (Now you all know what I am thankful for…Go see this show!). The weekend brought Pillage and Plunder, A Bear party at Hardrock Café Miami, White Party festivities, the annual Leather Masked Ball, Hurricane Showdown, Milancita’s birthday bash and ended with World AIDS Day Candlelight Vigil. This week I will let the pics do most of the talking…

Christopher Kenney directs. The Santaland Diaries is David Sedaris’ hilarious one-man send-up of his brief, misguided career as a Macy’s elf. The show skewers our sentimental love of all things Christmas – the happy children, the spritely elves, the gifts, and the good cheer. Sedaris’ character, Crumpet the Elf, shows us the other side of what it’s like to work at Santaland. You’ll never look at Christmas the same way again! “The Santaland Diaries” will play Thursdays thru Saturdays at 8PM, Sundays at 5PM, and tickets at $30 and may be purchased at EmpireStage.com or by calling (954) 678-1496.

whsf_this_whiteWhite Party is now over and a distant memory and everyone wants to experience those feelings again. How you ask, well read on….Once again Centaur has produced the annual White Party CD and this year DJ Roland Belmares is at the helm of the turntables (ok, most people don’t use turntables anymore, but it sounds good). According to Roland “Miami’s diversity is the most obvious in the music scene. Given the stellar line up this year, I tried to capture the diversity that is sure to highlight the musical journey of the weekend while giving it my own spin. The CD starts off with Pumpin commercial vocal tracks and progresses into the tribal drums that SoBe is known for, and then bringing it all back around into the ethereal, uplifting beats of a beach morning party. While it’s impossible to capture the full experience White Party has to offer, I hope that I’ve captured the essence of the magic of this weekend.” The White Party 14 by Roland Belmares is available at CentaurMusic.com.
