So…let me tell you all about my Orlando trip! I went over to see Martika at Parliament House, and she was a delight! There was a guy in the front row absolutely weeping and saying he was her biggest fan…and I thought I was excited to see her! Haha!
While I was in town I also got to see a Footlight Players show (who doesn’t love Darcel Stevens and her cast?) as well as Leigh Shannon’s Cabaret Dinner Show at Hamburger Mary’s Orlando! (Here’s a photo of Leigh with Aysia Black, Page King and Crystle Chambers.) I also teased in a previous issue that Parliament House would be featuring three RuPaul’s Drag Race queens in the month of February. I was wrong — four of them are coming: Nina Flowers, Carmen Carrera, Raja and Sharon Needles! Anyway, I’m running over my word limit…time for this week’s events! Lots of love to you all!
Stonewall Bar Orlando is celebrating Steven Watkins’ birthday by holding a roast in his honor! This night, which is also a benefit for The Genesis Community Project, starts at 9 p.m. and will be hosted by Julian Bain and Divine Grace. All donations this evening go to charity!
Are you a man over 45 or a man who loves them? If so, then DILF Weekend at Sawmill Resort in Dade City is just for you. The weekend starts tonight with a Bare As You Dare Night, with a naked pool tournament! Hmm! Interesting! There will be a dance party with DJ Wayne tomorrow.
Have you visited Fluid Bar and Nightclub in Longwood yet? I promoted them in my column as the very first event of 2014, and after a month they are developing a loyal clientele! Join them tonight for karaoke with hostess Cindy Ewing. The performances start at 8 p.m., have some fun and share your dulcet tones!
Ivy Queen has arrived direct from Puerto Rico and Parliament House in Orlando is but one stop on her nationwide gay club tour! Watch her perform tonight with her Papi Go-Go Dancers, and get the chance to meet her up close for just $15 if you buy VIP meet and greet tickets at Parliament House’s box office!
Friday January 31
A performance by DoubleMBand closes out the month of January at The Garage on Central Avenue in St. Petersburg. They take the stage at 8:30 p.m., and there will be no cover that evening! If you’re a fan of live music in the Tampa Bay area, come out and enjoy this local act.
Saturday February 1
Help the current Miss Large and Lovely Daphne Ferraro celebrate her birthday! Daphne and her friends Kathryn Nevets and Chi Chi Lalique will be performing a show called The Three Amigas! at Chill Chamber in New Port Richey. Showtime starts at 11 p.m., and there will be no cover, so perhaps you should buy the birthday girl a cocktail!
This Saturday at Georgie’s Alibi in St. Petersburg brings lots of food and fun with their monthly food truck rally. Just come to the parking lot starting at 4 p.m. and have your choice of food from the many trucks that participate. Families are welcome to partake from the trucks in the parking lot, but you have to be 21 to enter the bar itself.
Now I mentioned that I got to see Leigh Shannon’s Cabaret Dinner Show for the very first time recently, and I was won over immediately! I am no stranger to drag shows but Leigh Shannon can work a room and entertain a crowd like no other — no wonder she’s the First Lady of Orlando! I called Hamburger Mary’s Orlando and managed to get a seat with just one day’s advance notice but it was difficult; she sells out often and very early! Call (321) 319-0600 and ask them for a table to see the show!
Sunday February 2
Whether you’re a Denver Broncos fan, a Seattle Seahawks fan, or a fan of some seriously hot, rugged men, the Super Bowl watch party during Bear Sundays at Bradley’s on 7th in Tampa is something I know I won’t want to miss, and you should come on down too! Bear Sunday specials start at 6 p.m. but the bar opens at 4; come on in and root for your favorite this Sunday!
