February will be a busy month for me…I have one event I’m going to every weekend this month! There are a few events I want to keep secret, if only to surprise people when they see that I’m attending, but I will make an appearance at an event that interests me greatly (and perhaps some of you too!). I’m going to get to meet some of my soap idols at the Holiday Inn and Suites in Indian Rocks Beach on February 22 (the same day as the Equality Florida Tampa Gala, which I can say I WILL be attending as well!). If you’re interested in meeting Arianne Zucker from NBC’s Days of our Lives, Lynn Herring from ABC’s General Hospital, and others, e-mail email@example.com for more information. Keep your eyes peeled and you might see me there too! Lots of love to you all!
Thursday February 6
Sawmill Resort in Dade City is hosting their super-steamy military leather weekend. If you’re in the military, if you’re former military, or you just like a man in uniform, this is the time to come on down and see some sexy men! This weekend there will be a military dance ball and a uniform contest, with $200 in cash going to the winner! Tonight there’s also a bare as you dare night, which will surely make something stand at attention!
Friday February 7
Nina Flowers, who we all loved from RuPaul’s Drag Race season one and All-Stars, will be coming to Parliament House in Orlando for not one, not two, but three nights in a row! Tonight you can see her during her Latin Night performance at midnight. The next two nights, she will be participating in shows at 10 and 12 with the acclaimed Footlight Players!
Saturday February 8
Community Action Stops Abuse (CASA) will be having a fundraiser at The Broken Tusk in St. Petersburg, called No PRIDE in Domestic Violence. Come on by as CASA raises awareness of intimate partner violence and domestic violence. Drag queens, illusionists, and other performers will be giving their tips to CASA. The event starts at 9 p.m.
Sunday February 9
Hamburger Mary’s Clearwater has a new show director, Alicia Markstone, and she participates in quite a few shows each week, not least of which is the Sunday Diva Brunch. Join Alicia, Jocelyn Summers, Felicia Fox and Trinity Taylor as they perform two shows (noon, 1:30 p.m.) and serve Sunday afternoon drag realness to you, along with a $12.95 all you can eat buffet. Music by DJ Tony Waddell. Call to reserve your table! (727) 400-6996
Alexis de la Mer and Bryan Smith are hosting a benefit at Liquid Tampa for Marcus Grubb, an employee who is slowly recovering after a devastating car accident a few weeks ago. All tips performers receive will go directly to Marcus’s mother to help her pay his medical bills. No cover this evening. The event begins at 10 p.m.
Tuesday February 11
Hamburger Mary’s Orlando promises that their Twisted Sisters Bingo, hosted by Miss Sammy and Carol Lee, will be a real scream! Make a reservation for just before 6:30 so you can order dinner and play some bingo! It’s absolutely free to play! For reservations, call (321) 319-0600.
WAIT JUST A MINUTE…
Now wait just a minute… the AIDS Service Association of Pinellas (ASAP) needs your help in organizing this year’s Dining Out for Life!
Dining Out for Life is one fundraising event that I am honored to say I’ve participated in for quite a few years. Each year on a certain date, your favorite local restaurants donate a percentage of their daily profit to an AIDS service organization. In Tampa Bay, Dining Out for Life benefits ASAP. ASAP is looking for hosts and restaurants to participate in this year’s Dining Out for Life in Tampa Bay, which will happen on Thursday, April 24. If you are interested, e-mail them at firstname.lastname@example.org. Remember to mark April 24 on your calendar and go to ASAP on facebook closer to the event (facebook.com/ASAPServicesFL) to find out which restaurants are participating in this fundraising favorite.
