I’ve been having such a great time as of late! I got to visit some of my favorite soap stars at an event in Indian Rocks Beach! I was perhaps most excited to meet Arianne Zucker, who plays Nicole on Days of our Lives. She’s one of my favorite characters so it was such a cool moment for me. Later on, I went to the Equality Florida Tampa Gala at The Vault in downtown Tampa. I exchanged business cards with the mayor, Bob Buckhorn, who was honored with a Voice for Equality award. I felt pretty swank! Haha! Without further ado, here are some fun events occurring this week. Lots of love to you all!
Thursday March 6
The long-awaited Spring Foam Party is finally coming to Sawmill Resort in Dade City! They want you to skip the beach and come to the woods! If you want to play amongst the suds and the hunks, wait until Saturday, for tonight is a Bare As You Dare night which is a whole set of hot entirely!
Friday March 7
Parliament House in Orlando presents “Freakiest Friday” as their first Mardi Gras-themed event. They will be featuring circus acts, stilt walkers, food vendors, and much more. The acclaimed Footlight Players will be presenting The Freak Show! at 10 p.m. and midnight. Music by DJ Scott Robert. No cover until 11 p.m.
Saturday March 8
Enjoy a weekend-long Spring Break party at Flamingo Resort in St. Petersburg! This weekend’s party is called Riptide and goes on all day today and tomorrow. There will be live DJs, drag shows, contests, giveaways, and exotic dancers! It’s sure to be a sexy time so have fun in the sun and welcome in spring.
Sunday March 9
Spring forward! Remember, clocks need to be set forward an hour at 2 a.m. Sunday.
As you know, I love me some bears. I also love that there is a bear night every Sunday at Bradley’s on 7th in Tampa. Get with the party in the dance bar and bid the weekend adieu starting at 6 p.m. Sunday, going on until midnight. Not ready to end the weekend? The main bar is open until 3 a.m. DJ Steve Brooks is in charge of music in the dance bar.
Monday March 10
Are Mondays a DRAG without your RuPaul’s Drag Race fix? From what I’ve seen, you can watch RuPaul’s Drag Race at the following locations: Pulse in Orlando, Georgie’s Alibi in St. Petersburg, Quench Lounge in Largo, Throb and Barrel 87 in Sarasota. If your bar/club shows Drag Race and I forgot to list you, please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org!
Stonewall Bar Orlando celebrates the cult favorites this March at the Cult and Kitsch Movie and Cocktail Shindig night (every Monday). Each Monday this month, a double feature will be shown: first Taylor and Michael will screen one of their favorite Mystery Science Theater 3000 episodes, followed by one of YOUR requests! This week the double feature starts at 7 p.m. with MST3K’s The Brain That Wouldn’t Die and then the fan-picked Trilogy of Terror.
I’m a fan of karaoke, and one karaoke night I haven’t tried yet (but I want to soon!) is the Monday night karaoke at BarCodes in Orlando. Pick which songs you want to sing and tell your karaoke host, Hayward, after 8 p.m. Certain sales benefit The Genesis Community Project, ask your bartender how you can support this worthwhile cause.
Tuesday March 11
Did you hear that Quench Lounge in Largo has just installed a new dance floor? It’s pretty nice, so come test it out at Two Steppin’ Tuesday! Aleta Bernstein leads a line dancing class from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and then she turns the floor over to anything you like, as she plays a mix of country, dance and pop until 11 p.m.
Wednesday March 12
Do you know who was buried in Grant’s Tomb? Can you tell your Assyria from your Elba? If so (or even if you can’t), have some fun at Hamburger Mary’s Orlando Team Trivia, hosted by Doug Bowser. The questions start at 7 p.m. so be there or be an unspecified geometric shape! Call (321) 319-0600 for reservations.
