Cada cuatro años el mundo y los aficionados del deporte se preparan para el evento deportivo más importante de todos. No, no son los Juegos Olímpicos, es La Copa Munidal de Fifa. Este año, se juegan en Brasil, dando el país de la samba su primera oportunidad de brillar ante el enfoque mundial.
Aunque este deporte no es tan importante aquí en los EEUU, es probable que ya sepas que, el futbol es el juego mas popular por el resto del mundo. Cientos de países intentan a llegar, pero al final solo hay 32 espacios preciosos en el torneo.
Se dividen los países en ocho grupos de cuatro equipos, y este año hay 12 países o latinos o hispanohablantes que han llegado al grupo de 32. En la primera ronda, cada equipo se enfrenta a los otros tres equipos de su grupo. En la segunda ronda, los dos equipos con mas puntos se juegan y solo el ganador avanza dejando 16 equipos eliminados. Los equipos restantes siguen jugando eliminando a los otros equipos hasta llegar al campeonato. El torneo dura un mes y el ultimo partido se llevará a cabo en el Estádio Jornalista Mário Filho de Rio De Janeiro el domingo 13 de julio.
En el torneo de 2010, el equipo de España venció y entra en al copa de 2014 como el favorito. 
Con sus súper estrellas Gerard Pique y Iker Casillas, La Furia Roja busca ganar de nuevo y volver a Madrid con el trofeo otra vez. Pero, si su vecino en la península ibérica, Portugal, tiene la suerte, van a llevar la copa a Lisboa para celebrar con su capitán, el hombre más guapo del mundo (no es solo el opinión mio) Cristiano Ronaldo.
Otro equipo favorito es el Brasil. Las Canarinhas tienen el aventaje de jugar en su propio país, algo que seguro va a servir a su favor. También representando América del sur Argentina, con 
su líder Lionel Messi, van a probarles a ser una fuerza a tener en cuenta.
Los otros equipos de América latina son México, Costa Rica, y Honduras. De América del sur también hay Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, y Uruguay. Junto con el equipo de los EEUU, los Yanks, estos son los equipos mas importantes (mi opinión) del torneo.

Every four years, the world and sports fans get hyped for the biggest sporting event of them all. No, I’m not talking about the Olympics, I’m talking about the FIFA World Cup. This year, the games take place in Brazil, giving the land of Samba it’s first chance to shine in the global spotlight.
Even though this sport isn’t very important here in the US, you probably already know that it’s the most popular sport in the rest of the world. Hundreds of teams fight for a spot, but in the end there are only 32 coveted spots in the tournament.
Countries are divided into eight groups of four teams each and this year there are 12 teams from either Hispanic or Spanish speaking countries in the group of 32. In the first round of play, each team plays the other three teams in its group. In the second round, the top two teams from each group play each other in a single elimination game, which cuts the field down to 16 teams. The remaining teams then play each other in bracketed rounds of single elimination games hoping to win their way into the championship game. The tournament lasts a month and the final game will take place at Estádio Jornalista Mário Filho in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday July 13.
In the last World Cup, in 2010, Spain won and they go into this year’s tournament as favorites. With their super stars Gerard Pique and Iker Casillas, La Furia Roja look to win again once more and take the trophy home with them to Madrid. But, if their Iberian neighbors, the Portuguese, 
have anything to do with it, they will take the cup back to Lisbon to celebrate along with their team captain, the sexiest man on the planet (not just my opinion) Cristiano Ronaldo.
Another favorite team is the home team of Brazil. The Canarinhas have home field advantage no matter where they play, a fact that will definitely serve in their favor. Also representing South America is Argentina who, with their leader, Lionel Messi, are going to prove to be a force to be reckoned with.
The teams from Latin America are Mexico, Costa Rica and Honduras. The remaining teams from South America are Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Uruguay. These teams, along with the Yanks, as the United States team are nicknamed, are pretty much the only teams that matter. (My opinion)
