As I told you last week, October is such a fun time for all of us here at the magazine because we get to go out on the road and meet all of you! I’m based in Central Florida so I see Orlando a lot, but my favorite time of year to be in Orlando is during Pride. The first Pride Week events start on Monday and they’re here in my column. Thursday October 2
What happens when you combine sexy hunks with German culture? You get Jocktoberfest, which starts today and goes on through Sunday at Sawmill Resort in Dade City! Friday October 3
Del Shores’ one man show will be coming to Florida, and his first stop is the Flamingo Resort in St. Petersburg. He will be telling some of his favorite stories, plus some funny ones you haven’t heard before. The show starts at 8 p.m. in the main bar. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $30 for VIP.
The “Fridays are a drag” theme nights continue this week at Parliament House in Orlando with the arrival of Nina Flowers from RuPaul’s Drag Race season one and All-Stars. She will be appearing with the acclaimed Footlight Players in two shows, at 10 p.m. and midnight. DJ Scott Robert is in charge of music until 3 a.m.
Saturday October 4
Save the Date! The GLBT Community Center of Central Florida will be holding their third annual Black and White Gala tonight starting at 6 p.m. at the Orlando Museum of Art. Love the ’80s? So does Parliament House. They are throwing what they call Orlando’s ultimate ’80s party, the “Thriller Party,” tonight starting at 8 p.m. All three main rooms will be playing ’80s music all night long. The Footlight Players will be performing two special “Thriller”-themed shows at 10 p.m. and midnight.
Sunday October 5
Bradley’s on 7th in Tampa hosts “Evolve Sundays” every Sunday from 6 p.m. to midnight in the dance bar. The music on offer “evolves” through from the ’80s to the ’90s and to the present day. DJ Steve Brooks is in charge of the music and the patio is open all day and all night!
Monday October 6
Michael Wanzie‘splay Ladies of Eola Heights is back for an encore just in time for Come Out with Pride Orlando! There will only be two shows: tonight and tomorrow night, both starting at 7 p.m. at The Abbey. Tickets are $30 for general admission and $45 for VIP.
