Gala anual presentado por The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force
The National Gay and Lesbian Task Forcehonrará a dos activistas comunitarias en la 18a Cena de Reconocimiento Anual de Miami. El evento se celebrará el Sábado, 11 de octubre 2014 en el Hotel Fontainebleau en Miami Beach con las anfitrionas Lea Negro, estrella de “The Real Housewives of Miami¨ de Bravo TV y el icono de South Beach Elaine Lancaster.

Después de 20 años de servicio en las fuerzas especiales la marina (US Navy SEALS), Beck se jubiló, salió del closet como una mujer transgénero, y se ha dedicado a la causa de la igualdad para la comunidad LGBT en las fuerzas armadas del país. Actualmente, Beck sirve como miembro de la junta de Military Freedom coalition, una organización sin fines de lucro dedicado a los cuestiones que afectan a los soldados LGBT.

The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force will honor two community activists at the 18th Annual Miami Recognition Dinner. The event, co-hosted by star of Bravo TV’s “The Real Housewives of Miami¨ Lea Black and South Beach icon Elaine Lancaster, is set to take place on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach.
The Miami Recognition Dinner honors individuals for their work to secure full equality for the LGBT community. It will feature an awards ceremony where the Task Force will present the Eddy McIntyre Community Service Award as well as the National Leadership Award for 2014.
James G. Pepper, a longtime LGBT rights activist, community leader and philanthropist, who will receive the 2014 Eddy McIntyre Community Service Award.
Transgender community activist and former Navy SEAL Kristin Beck will receive the 2014 National Leadership Award. When speaking of the event, she recently said “I am honored and truly humbled to receive the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force’s National Leadership Award,
After 20 years of service in the Navy, Beck retired and then came out as a transgender woman and became involved in work for LGBT equality in the US military. She currently serves as a board member of the Military Freedom Coalition, a nonprofit organization working on issues affecting LGBT service members in U.S. Armed Forces.
Tickets to the awards gala includes an intimate cocktail reception, a gourmet three-course dinner, the awards ceremony, and live music entertainment. Attendees will also have the opportunity to bid on a variety of silent auction items. Proceeds from the Miami Recognition Dinner support the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force’s work to secure full freedom, justice and equality for LGBT people and their families. A significant portion of the proceeds also funds multiple organizations serving the LGBT community in South Florida.
