Our Fun Leadership Forum

Our fun LogoOur Fund, which connects non-profits in the LGBT community in South Florida with philanthropists, is hosting their fourth annual National LGBT Leadership Forum on Monday, November 10 at 5:30 p.m. The host venue is the Horvitz Auditorium, adjacent to the Museum of Art – Fort Lauderdale (1 E. Las Olas Blvd.), and the theme of this year’s event is “LGBT Equality: Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness After the Mid-Term Elections.”

Registration begins at 5 p.m., after which a forum will begin, and will discuss the future of LGBT equality in the wake of the mid-term elections nationwide and the gubernatorial elections here in Florida. The moderator is philanthropist Mona Pittenger, who also sits on the Our Fund Board of Directors. The panelists featured are Rea Carey, Director of the National LGBTQ Task Force; Kevin Cathcart, Executive Director of Lambda Legal; Nadine Smith, Executive Director of Equality Florida; and Paul Smith, Law Partner at Jenner & Block. Afterwards there will be a reception with complimentary wines and hors d’oeuvres. The evening is sponsored by the Gay and Lesbian Lawyers’ Network.

The mission of Our Fund is to “[promote] a culture of philanthropy by uniting donors with organizations supporting the LGBTQ community.” Our Fund seeks to bring deserving non-profit organizations with lone donors, families and businesses, so the community can thrive and also identify problems and issues, with the intent of fixing them.
