What's Hot Central Florida

What's Happening Central Florida

We’ve made it to December! Are you decking the halls yet? Have you at least started shopping for presents? If you haven’t, don’t feel bad. I’m the king of last-minute shopping. I’m sure I’ll be at WestShore Plaza and International Plaza and Bay Street buying gifts for my loved ones the day before I head back to my hometown of Pensacola! Where are you going for the holidays? Tell me by sending me an e-mail: mike@hotspotsmedia.com. Lots of love to you all!

Thursday December 4

WHCF_v2949_ThursdayTonight, if you can, give back to a performer who has given us so much joy over the years. Hamburger Mary’s Clearwater is hosting a benefit for Natasha Richards, who is in need of a full hip replacement following a recent injury. Entertainers from across the state are donating their time and tips to Natasha’s medical fund. There will also be a silent auction. Showtime is at 7:30 p.m.

Wear white this weekend at Sawmill Resort in Dade City as they celebrate their special “White Affair” weekend! The festivities start tonight with a Bare As You Dare night (my favorite!), and highlights of the upcoming weekend include a Sawmill Diva show, a costume contest, hot go-go dancers, and music by DJ Wayne! To reserve your cabin, call (352) 583-0664.

The Blu Room Theater at the Flamingo Resort in St. Petersburg is presenting another original show! Michael Matteo, Trevor Keller and Gypsy Productions present “Who Took the Last Ketchup?”, an hysterical comedy about a holiday experience nobody will forget! Shows are running now through December 21 at 8 p.m. every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. every Sunday. Tickets are $20 ($25 for VIP); call (727) 321-5000 to reserve your spot.

WHCF_v2949_Thursday2Bradley’s on 7th in Tampa hosts an amateur strip contest every Thursday night. If you’ve never been, you’re missing out! Joey Brooks, the First Lady of Ybor City, hosts, and DJ Danny Morris provides the music for this fun evening. Bradley’s Boys are dancing on top of the bar, a sight to behold! Audience reaction picks the winner of the strip contest, who will walk away with $200 in cash and prizes! The contest starts at midnight; you better be there!

Saturday December 6

Parliament House in Orlando is lighting up the courtyard this evening! The fan favorite nightlife complex is being transformed into a winter wonderland, and will feature a special performance by the Central Florida Sounds of Freedom, and a special appearance by Santa Claus himself! Wanzie’s “Orange Blossom Trail Living Nativity Christmas Spectacular” will be playing in the Footlight Theatre at 7:30 p.m.; tickets can be bought by going to wanzie.com or at the door. Two Footlight Players shows are on tonight, at 10 p.m. and midnight.

WHCF_v2949_SaturdayIt’s the beginning of the month, and you know what that means: Leigh Shannon presents her special Illusions in Revue show at Hamburger Mary’s Orlando! As Florida’s Leading Lady, Leigh is known for quite a few celebrity impersonations, such as her flawless Bette Midler! She will be joined on stage by Page King and a rotating cast of performers who will be bringing you the best celebrity looks…you’d swear you were meeting the real celebrities! The show starts at 8:30; seating is at 7:30. To reserve your seat, call (321) 319-0600.

Sunday December 7

WHCF_v2949_SundayI’ve been to underwear night at BarCodes in Orlando, and it’s an absolute blast! Bartenders and customers alike get down to their skimpy, sexy undergarments and then they are ready to party! If you want to attend, you can do so every Sunday night. Want more? BarCodes also hosts underwear night on Wednesdays. Stop by The Store @ BarCodes to peruse their wide selection of underwear and other clothing.

Wednesday December 10

I love my karaoke, and I absolutely love singing at City Side in Tampa. Frank Tanner hosts a karaoke night every Wednesday starting at 9 p.m. Bring your friends and get ready to wow the audience with your vocal stylings! Who knows, you might see me there! (My specialty is “I’ve Never Been to Me” by Charlene.)
