What's Hot South Florida

This past week was all about gay weddings becoming legal in the state of Florida (the 36th state to do so)! Some highlights of the ceremonies were: Aaron Woodard and Broward County Sheriff David Currie at Broward County Courthouse; Monroe County plaintiff couple Aaron Huntsman and Lee Jones in Key West and Suze Orman and wife Kathy Travis helping to celebrate a friend’s weddings at the Delray Beach Courthouse. On Friday night, The Grand Resort and Spa celebrated their 15th anniversary by honoring two of Fort Lauderdale’s outstanding community organizations: The Pride Center at Equality Park and SunServe. 100% of the $20 admission went directly to these charities. Hundreds of people came out to celebrate with Casey, JD and the entire Grand Resort and Spa staff. Afterwards I headed to Broadway Across America’s The Lion King at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. This much-loved and long-running musical has been updated and is definitely worth seeing again! On top of all that, Adult Simba is super sexy…LOL! Saturday afternoon, The SMART Ride held their annual check presentations to the not-for-profits at Elan 1640, the new luxury apartment building on Sunrise Boulevard. This year The SMART Ride raised $1,153,220…all I can say is AMAZING! On Saturday night there were two big events, Score Nightclub in association with Give Me A Beat Productions presented “Avant Garde George Coronado’s Birthday Event” which featured a Ilde Swimwear Fashion Show, and The Manor Complex’s Burst Saturdays featured international recording artist Kristine W live in concert.  On Sunday, Village Pub presented the hilarious ventriloquist Jerry Halliday and his dangerous dummies. This show was wickedly funny!
