In week 2 of season 7 of Ru Paul’s Drag race the mini challenge was giving face while being blown, by a leaf blower! The guest judges for this challenge was music superstar Moby. The images were hysterical, but in the end the winners were Ginger Minj and Trixie Mattel, who were then the team captains for the Main Stage challenge, which was Lypinka palooza safety preflight video for glamazonian Airways (ok, say that 5 times fast…LOL). In the end it was Katya and Sasha that were in the bottom 2 and Sasha sashayed away.
At what age did drag become an interest & how did you pick your name?
I found out about drag when I was 18 when I left home for college and I immediately got the bug. Frisbee Jenkins was my original name, and then I decided to change it. I love Beyonce so that’s where I got Sasha, and Belle is from the drag family of Belle.
How many times did you apply to be on RPDR and how did it feel when you found out you got chosen?
5 times, and it felt great when I got chosen. I didn’t really believe it at first. I also felt relieved as it was a lot of hard work that finally paid off.
Is there an additional pressure now that RuPaul has been on for 6 seasons?
Oh completely. Every time there is a new season I think the pressure goes up. I think they got away with a lot more back in early seasons.
Tell me about your RuPaul’s Drag Race experience?
It was great. I didn’t perform the best and that’s my own fault, but I wouldn’t have traded it for anything in the world. I made a lot of new friends and met some celebrities. It was an amazing opportunity and a growing experience.
How are you going to leverage your time on Drag Race?
I’m excited about touring and I am trying to build up my YouTube channel as I have gained a lot of followers because of Drag Race. I live in Iowa and I would like to move to California in the near future.
Who do you want to win?
I would like to see either Ginger or Katya to win. Ginger would be a great winner and she would be the first big girl and would also represent the pageant and camp scene. Katya impressed me so much during the show and more so (as I was on for such a short time) since the show has ended. She has everything it takes to win.
Tell me about the man behind Sasha?
Jared is a normal guy and I have been in a relationship with my b/f Kyle for 7 years. I have a cat named Chicken and I am definitely not a high maintenance guy. Very easy going.
Tell me something people would be surprised to know about you.
I sleep walk… I get up in the middle of night and do things.
What’s ahead for Sasha?
Excited about my drag career blossoming even further. I am also interested in pursuing a career at WOW or Logo as I went to school for film. I would love to work for Drag Race behind the scenes.
