Poverello has provided food and other essential items for people living with HIV and AIDS in Broward County since 1988. Their annual “Bowling to Fight Hunger” event, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, will be held next month. There will be two upcoming events that will 
benefit Poverello and their bowl-a-thon event in South Florida that may be of interest to you.
The first is a “casino night” fundraiser, presented by AIDS Healthcare Foundation, which will be held at Sidelines Sports & Video Bar on Saturday, July 18 starting at 7 p.m. The second event is a summer concert, performed by the 52-member New River Orchestra, at Sunshine Cathedral on Sunday, July 26 at 4 p.m.
Sidelines will be turning the bar into a mini-casino, offering Texas Hold ‘Em Poker and blackjack games for everyone’s enjoyment. The buy-in will be $25 for $2000 in chips. All money raised will be directly donated to Poverello. In addition, there will be a raffle and a silent auction, with all 
funds being donated to Poverello, as well as a canned food drive. Bring at least two canned goods and you will receive a free raffle ticket.
The New River Orchestra will be performing a summer concert and all ticket sales will benefit Poverello. The 52-member orchestra will perform selections from such well-known classical and modern composers as Fuchs, Grieg, Marquez, Rodrigo, Piazzola, and Chabrier. Sofiya Uryvayeva will perform Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue.” Tickets are available for purchase now and they cost $18 per person.
