He is a member of the American Academy of Age Management, the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine, and the American Academy for the Advancement of Medicine.

I interviewed Dr. Fisher about his practice and what services he offers to people who want to feel younger in this exclusive Hotspots interview.

TYH-3034_DoctorFisherWhat is The B.E.S.T. Program and how did you get the idea to start it in South Florida?

The B.E.S.T. Program stands for “Better Energy, Strength and Tone,” but it’s really age management medicine. It’s for men who are in their forties, fifties and sixties who are just not feeling like themselves, and that’s who the program is designed for. Largely it is hormone replacement therapy, including testosterone, human growth hormone and thyroid, all of the hormones in which you can become deficient as you age. All of us lose hormones as we get older, and when we do, we feel it. The replacement of those hormones result in people feeling better. They have better sex, too. What’s really great about this therapy is that it also cuts people’s risks for cardiovascular disease and cancer. It’s a no-brainer; replacing those hormones is key to looking better and feeling better. My goal is to get people’s hormones back to where they were when they were twenty-five years old. Two months in, I find that my patients are looking good and feeling great.

Which kinds of testosterone treatments do you give to patients?

Testosterone replacement can be anything from creams to injectables to pellets. Most of the guys who see me do injections of testosterone.TYH-3034_staff

Walk me through some of the improvements some of your patients experience after the hormone replacement treatment.

Guys come to us and tell us that they’re getting bellies or “man boobs” without any huge change in their diet. They also say that they don’t get a lot of gains like they used to when they work out, and they also say that they hit the gym hard and then it’s difficult for them to get back into the gym. Then of course there are the men who say that they’re no longer having erections in the morning, or that they aren’t focused on sex the way they used to be. When guys lose testosterone, they can lose focus and concentration, and sometimes they can become grumpy old men!

I tell people, “Let me see if we can get your hormone levels optimal within two months,” and I’ve been successful doing that. They feel a lot better when they go to the gym, they are able to keep their weight at normal levels, they can see all the results in their workouts that someone half TYH-3034_locationtheir age would see, and they can focus a lot more on everything, not just sex.

How do you decide which patients will benefit from growth hormones?

Growth hormones shouldn’t really be called growth hormones when referring to adults…they should be called the repair and restore hormones. At the age of 23, men have the maximum amount of growth hormone they will ever produce, and then it’s on a decline until the age of 70. Growth hormone replacement decreases body fat, increases muscle mass, and increases energy. There are many different ways to ensure that men either get enough growth hormone or they get enough of a replacement where the pituitary gland creates growth hormone on its own. For most people who have testosterone replacement, they will automatically benefit, but for those who still feel sluggish and slow, they will benefit greatly from growth hormone replacement.

What kinds of compliments have you received from patients?

I think what I like the best is that I see the progress in each patient. I used to take care of sick people a long time ago, but what I love about my work now is that everyone is well, and people feel even better after their treatments.
