This will be my third year working Orlando Pride for Hotspots, and I am excited beyond words! It’s one thing to see the events on paper but it’s quite another to experience everything all at once. There are lots of fun entertainers who are coming to Orlando to help us celebrate one of the biggest weekends of the year, and I, for one, can’t wait for everything to begin! Check out our Orlando Pride calendar of events and also read up on some extra events in this column! Lots of love!
Thursday October 8
Orlando Pride’s calendar of events begins tonight at 7 p.m. with their launch party, which will be held at The Veranda. There will be music, entertainment, and a silent auction. If you’d like VIP tickets, you can buy them in advance by going to comeoutwithpride.com.
Friday October 9
Orlando Pride’s festivities continue tonight with Pride on Church Street (free to attend)! Arrive at Church Street Station at 8 p.m. and enjoy entertainment from Amy and Freddy, Bob the Drag Queen, Beth Sacks, Ginger Minj and The Minx, and beats by DJ JB Burgos. Speaking of Amy and Freddy, they are celebrating their 20th anniversary with special shows at Hamburger Mary’s Orlando. Call (321) 319-0600 to see if you can reserve your spot at their 6:30 p.m. show tonight. If not, don’t despair; there’s also a show tomorrow.
Parliament House Orlando will be continuing the party, with special appearances by Alyssa Edwards and Mimi Marks in the Footlight Players‘ shows at 10 p.m. and midnight! DJ Scott Robert and DJ Infinite will be providing the music this evening. If you’re here early, the Julian Bond Magic Show and Cabaret will begin in the Footlight Theatre at 7:30 p.m. There is no cover all night long!
Enigma in St. Petersburg will be presenting two drag shows this evening, under the direction of the talented Daphne Ferraro. Performing with Daphne tonight are her friends Tia Devine and Felicia Fox. Showtimes are at 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
There’s an exciting weekend ahead at Bradley’s on 7th in Tampa! Tonight, The First Lady of Ybor City, Joey Brooks, and Bradley’s diva Esme Russell, will be joined on-stage by Chanel Cartier. Tomorrow night, Joey and Esme’s special guests will be Felicity Lane and Divinity Everlasting in honor of the monthly Tracks Revue Night. Showtimes are at 11:30 p.m. and 1:15 a.m.
Saturday October 10
Wake up early and compete in the Zebra Run, which begins at 7:30 a.m. adjacent to Lake Eola in downtown Orlando. To learn more, go to comeoutwithpride.com/event/zebra-run. Afterwards, enjoy a “big gay brunch,” which will begin at 11 a.m. at The Abbey. The cost is $35 per person and the proceeds will benefit Pride Gives Back.
After you’re done with brunch, head on over to the Orlando Pride festival, located along the shores of Lake Eola. Be sure to get a good viewing spot on the street for the parade (beginning at 4 p.m.). If you want to dance, head on over to Club H20, where DJs Twisted Dee and Edil Hernandez are spinning for your enjoyment. The cost to get into Club H20 is $10.
Southern Nights Orlando would love for you to join them at their Pride Cookout, which begins at 6 p.m., a little after the parade. Bourbon Soul will be performing on the patio. There is no cover for this event.
Jordin Sparks, winner of American Idol season six, will be performing at the official Orlando Pride after-party tonight at Parliament House Orlando. Mimi Marks comes back for another night with the Footlight Players. Cover is $10 in advance and $15 at the door with limited VIP tickets ($40 each) still available.
