The Republic of Chile is located in the extreme southwest of South America. Chile has an extensive territory in which it is divided into 15 provinces with Antofagasta, Atacama, Valparaiso, Libertador, among the most well-known. Its capital is the city of Santiago which is located in the center of this long and narrow country.
Chile is made up of three geographical zones: Continental Chile, which comprises a strip on the western coast of the Southern Cone, including the southeastern shore of the Pacific Ocean to the highest peaks of the Andes. The second is Insular Chile, which is made up of a large group of islands of volcanic origin in the South Pacific Ocean: the archipelago of Juan Fernández and the Desventuradas islands, belonging to South America, the island of Salas and Gómez and Easter Island, located in Oceania. The third is the Chilean Antarctic Territory, which is an Antarctic zone on which Chile claims sovereignty, extending its southern boundary to the South Pole. Because of these three distinct zones, Chile is defined as a tri-continental country.
Chile has a population of about 18 million inhabitants who, for the most part, enjoy a high quality of life due to the country´s economic growth, and human development. The recent period of globalization in Chile allows its population to count on a society with values and an appreciation for free expression which is an example to be followed by the rest of the countries in Latin America.

The LGBT community in the Republic of Chile has made its way all by itself. The acceptance of the LGBT community in Chile has advanced as time has gone on; civil unions are fully permitted which enhances free expression in this South American country. The nightlife in gay clubs in Chile is completely extensive so Chile should be among the first countries to visit in Latin America when considering tourist destinations.
Speaking of tourist destinations in Chile, we can´t fail to mention some of the most beautiful places in the South American country. La Playa Cavancha is a vibrant beach town in northern Chilean that captivates with its white sand beaches and soft waves, beautiful wooden architecture, built during the time of splendor of the saltpeter and valuable archaeological museums that show The Chinchorro Culture that inhabited the area thousands of years ago.
Among the things you cannot miss is the masterful sunset at Ahu Tongariki on Easter Island, located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, more than 2000 miles of mainland Chile. It is considered one of the most curious tourist spots in Chile because of its enigmatic stone sculptures known as Moáis and for the mysterious legends and traditions of the Rapa Nui ancestral culture. In 1995 the island was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco.

And last but not least is Laguna San Rafael. This idyllic landscape is located in the Northern Ice Fields in an area recognized as a World Biosphere Reserve by Unesco and is home to the majestic San Rafael Glacier which was born in the snowy San Valentín, and stretches for fifteen kilometers away before finally end in a lagoon of the same name. It is only accessible by special boats and captivates visitors with its ice towers that reach heights of more than 200 feet. The enormous icebergs float on the water and an overwhelming silence allows visitors to hear the constant melting of ice as giant slabs fall off into the water.
And remember that no visit to Chile would be complete without tasting of a rich Arrollado de huaso, a traditional rolled stuffed meat dish, along with many other popular Chilean delicacies.

See you all soon, my friends!
