What was the first drag show you saw and tell me about the experience?

While still attending High School back in 96’, I was brought to my first gay venue/nightclub: Splash, by my first openly gay boyfriend Victor who happened to do Drag on occasions for fun. It’s there where I witnessed my first professional drag show and competition hosted by an amazing, androgynous and hilarious drag queen, the one and only Damian Devine. Damian currently lives in Paris, and now goes by the name Allanah Star. She is a Trans model celebrity as well as the show director at the infamous Cabaret.

That night, I also got to meet several artists like Kristina Grant & Coco, who helped me begin my journey.

When did you decide you wanted to do drag and when did you realize it would be a profession?

I was quickly drawn and amused by their ability to take control of the room and capture everyone’s attention with their humor, talent, beauty and outspoken personalities.  As a former cheerleader and hip hop dancer I found it sort of like an outlet for me to display my passion. Before long I was winning cash prizes at every local talent competition around the area. Its then when I realized I was on to something, and booked my own night and bam Poizon Ivy was born.

Who is your drag mother and who is your favorite queen other than your drag mother and why?

Living in a rather small LGBT Community I happen to have met several artists and individuals who believed in my vision. At first I was guided by a former Miss Universe Kristina Grant, Rosette Enchanted, Bianca Brinsky. Paloma De La Renta, Stephani Bofil, Johanna Douglas just to name a few Mother figures.  In addition, I had several male father figures who took the initiative to help me blossom like Fernando Gonzalez and Danny Villar. It’s then when I began competing and winning many Beauty Pageants throughout the state of Florida.  At that time is when I met my drag mother, Erika Norell, who took me to the next level in Showbiz.

What’s your favorite number to perform and why?

It all depends on what personality or vibe I’m feeling at the moment. I’m definitely drawn to any Old-school tracks such as Crystal Waters 100% Pure Love, Woman’s Got The Power, and artists like Sonique, La Lupe, and Shirley Bassey.

What’s the best thing that has happened to you in drag?

It’s difficult to talk about just one best moment or thing I’ve been blessed to accomplish thru-out my career.

I’m grateful to say many unexpected doors and outlets have opened for me such as working side by side with several famous actors such as William Levy, Gloria & Emilio Estefan, Penelope Cruz, Ricky Martin, and  Khloe Kardashian to name a few.

I am also incredibly grateful for the opportunity I have had to travel, act and entertain around the world.

What differentiates you from other Queens (Makes you Unique)?

I believe we are all individually unique in our own special way. Besides mastering the ability to adapt and work with all types of themes, venues and personalities, I’ve also grown into my own skin. I am not only an open minded pansexual trans female, I am blessed and thankful to say I discovered my true purpose in life,  which is to love not only myself unconditionally, but also help bring awareness to the human race about self-love, mother nature, our animals, being a vegan and our beautiful planet.

In addition, I am an international showgirl/entertainer, active actress and bilingual host & MC throughout the US and Internationally.

What does the future hold?

I shall continue to grow, learn, and also continue to guide those in need of my light and love until it’s time for me to move on to a higher consciousness & state of mind.
