September: Feeding South Florida’s Hunger Action Month

In September, Feeding South Florida, the leading domestic hunger-relief organization serving South Florida, is participating in Feeding America’s nationwide initiative, Hunger Action Month (HAM), when the community comes together to help raise awareness about the issue. It’s a month to spread the word and take action, dedicating ourselves to a solution. Throughout the month, Feeding South Florida will offer a range of events and activities to encourage South Florida residents to get involved in hunger relief efforts. This year’s theme is “Help end hunger one bite at a time.”

Every day, over 700,000 food insecure individuals throughout Palm Beach Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties question from where they will get their next meal.

“During the month of September and every day of the year, there are many ways that South Florida residents can help end hunger,” said Paco Vélez, president and CEO of Feeding South Florida. “Those struggling to put food on the table are working families, children, seniors, and veterans. During Hunger Action Month, we ask the community to help be part of the solution.

Not only will South Floridians have the chance to participate in fundraising and volunteer efforts, but with the support of key strategic corporate partners, they can also participate in community events, volunteer efforts, a Food + Fun(d) Drive in at Rosemary Square in Palm Beach County, and more to support hunger relief. Feeding South Florida’s 30 Ways in 30 Days calendar of events is available online. For more information about how to get involved, visit Feedingsouthflorida.org or call 954.518.1818.
