February is Black History Month, and the City of Fort Lauderdale is dedicating the City Hall lobby gallery to a celebration of African American history with visual artworks created by local artists. The City has called upon the Broward Art Guild, through its Art Around Town program, to curate this themed art exhibit, which is on public display in City Hall from February 4 through 28.
Fort Lauderdale City Hall is located at 100 N. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301. The lobby exhibit is open to the public on weekdays from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm. There is no admission fee.
There will also be a free public reception on Thursday, February 20, from 6:00 until 8:30 pm. Invitees include local government officials, consuls, and leaders of local African American institutions.
Broward Art Guild is the oldest and largest organization of working artists in Broward County. Its mission is to bring the arts to everyone in the Broward County community and to help local artists flourish.
