As many of you recall a group of our community members came together to feed hot meals to people in need twice a week for 15 weeks. In honor of their hard work, last week in the Wilton Manors Commission meeting, Vice Mayor Tom Green proclaimed: “now, therefore, be it proclaimed by the city of Wilton Manors that July 14, 2020 be designated as: Dawn Cohen Holloway (The Pink Sub), Howard Andrew (Fabscout Entertainment), Laymon Rupe,  Rev. Joel Slotnick,  Bill Huelsman,  Skip Vandelinde (Fur The Love Of Dogs),  John Michael Gordon,  Kevin Clevenger (The Pet Project) and Victor Lords (Lords of Mac) day.”

Some residents of Pompano Beach decided it was time to have a gay beach in their city and went out with a gay flag and officially pronounced their own gay beach. Their Facebook group already has over 300 members…check it out.

Last Week Velvet Lenore, Miss Noche Latina 2020, performed at a Black Lives Matter Benefit in Palm Beach…please note….EVERYONE is wearing a MASK!!

Tri-Rail Suspended Fares Due to Covid-19

The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) has adjusted Tri-Rail train schedules and suspended all fares since Saturday, March 28 and until further notice. “We are committed to staying up and running for health care workers and others in our community who need to get to essential jobs, as well as those who have no other means of transportation during this trying time,” said Steven L. Abrams, SFRTA Executive Director. “With fewer people on the trains it has become easier to practice social distancing, and with fewer trains in service we can enhance our efforts to disinfect the equipment. Though there are fewer trains, we will add additional cars on each train set to give passengers more room to distance themselves,” said Abrams. “And suspending fares will protect passengers and the officers who check tickets by minimizing contact between them. For the most updated information on Tri-Rail service, including the temporarily modified schedule, visit tri-rail.com or follow Tri-Rail’s Facebook or Twitter pages. Tri-Rail’s Customer Service call center at 1-800-TRI-RAIL (874-7245) will remain open from 4:50 am to 11:30 pm on weekdays and 7am to 5pm on weekends.

She explained her decision further on this Instagram post: “I put out an EP last September and shortly after recorded a live off the floor version, which was set to come out this summer. Then the world flipped upside down, so I decided to donate all my proceeds from this EP for the next 21 years to ‘Save the Children’, a global organization that saves and improves the lives of children who have been denied their rights by ensuring they have shelter, food, protection, healthcare, and education. Thanks to my team for getting on board, and to the wonderful musicians who played on this record. Hope this will be a bit of light in a (for lack of a descriptive enough term) weird time.
