Following the conclusion of its 24th Annual Members’ Show on November 28, Fatima NeJame, president and chief executive officer of the world renowned Palm Beach Photographic Centre (PBPC), at 415 Clematis St, West Palm Beach, announced that its next major exhibition will feature stunning visuals by the award-winning, Miami-based photographer Matt Stock. The Arsht Center for the Performing Arts presents one of their first live events with Deborah Cox in I’ll be Home for Christmas at 8pm. The star singer and actress will deliver chart-topping hits and seasonal favorites during I’ll Be Home for Christmas, a concert she has created especially for the Arsht Center. Please note: Seating for this performance is purchased by the table. Tables of 1 and 2 at $70 per person. Tables of 3 at $60 per person. Tables of 4 at $55 per person. The monthly Art Walk artists’ showcase returns to Wilton Drive in Wilton Manors from 5 to 8pm and will be hosted in three locations: The Shoppes of Wilton Manors, 6th Avenue Park (the former Beer Garden) and Sidelines Plaza. Every business on the Drive is invited to participate and artists are encouraged to put out 10 x 10 tents to showcase their art work at 6th Avenue Park and Sidelines plaza. Tents will not be needed at The Shoppes. Social distancing and masks will be mandatory for the event in our COVID-conscious community. Touch-free payment processing is encouraged for each artist selling their artwork. Artists are highly encouraged to provide sanitizer at points of sale or where surfaces are contacted. The Kravis center for the Performing Arts presents the “Best of Avery Sommers.” In a tapestry of songs that includes spirituals, gospel, and blues; Avery Sommers shares her journey on the way to fully embracing her voice. She is a South Florida treasure and Broadway veteran with a “powerhouse” voice (The New York Times) and charismatic stage presence. On Broadway, Sommers appeared with Ken Page in Ain’t Misbehavin’ replacing Nell Carter. Other Broadway credits include Broadway, Chicago, Showboat and Platinum. She was in the first national tour of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (starring Ann-Margret) and played Matron Mama Morton in the first national tour of the Broadway show, Chicago, winning a Los Angles Ovation Award. The Broward Center for the Performing Arts presents Art Heist: A True Crime Walking Theatre Experience through January 10. Put your NCIS, CSI and Law & Order skills to use and walk off the quarantine poundage to solve a ripped-from-the-walls, real-life master robbery of thirteen works of art, valued at half a billion dollars. Based on a true story of the world’s biggest art caper, Art Heist is a true crime walking show where socially distanced groups move through five walkable locations outside the Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale to gather clues. The amateur gumshoes interact with a wild group of wily career criminals, slimy con men, rumpled art recovery specialists, a possible inside man, a gentle psychopath, and the larger-than-life but definitely real self-proclaimed “Greatest Art Thief of All Time.” Tckets are $39.50 to $44.50 at BrowardCenter.org

ART+STROLL’s online art exhibit Extended to the end of the year.
After a very successful virtual event, Business for the Arts of Broward is announcing the extension of the 2nd annual ART+STROLL’s online art exhibit through the end of the year. The virtual event, which took place via Zoom last month, featured more than 100 pieces of art, some of which are still available for sale on BFA’s website (bfabroward.org/shop) through December 28. Sales of these remaining art pieces will benefit artists and Business for the Arts of Broward programming.

Palm Beach Symphony and CBS12 News will broadcast a special holiday concert
This concert filled with sounds of the season airing on Christmas Eve at 8pm and Christmas day at 9am and 7pm. The CW34 will simulcast the concert on Christmas morning and repeat the special on December 26 at 6pm. Palm Beach Symphony’s 47th Season features concerts with guest violinist Pinchas Zukerman, guest pianists Vladimir Feltsman and Alexander Toradze and guest cellist Julian Schwarz. At this time, it is anticipated that the first Masterwork concert in January will be livestreamed virtually. The Symphony hopes to perform the remainder of the season at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts as a mix of livestreaming and select seating. 49 Legacy Scholarship Application Period is Open
Applications are now being accepted through January 31, 2021 for the 49 Legacy Scholarships. Scholarships up to $10,000 will be awarded for the 2021/22 academic year and can be used at any accredited institution of highest learning including career and technical schools. High school seniors, as well as those eligible to enter accredited post or secondary institutions are eligible to apply. Recipients will be notified in spring 2021. Funding Arts Broward (FAB), a non-profit volunteer-based arts organization committed to preserving and cultivating the arts in Broward County, has opened its grant applications for 2022 funding.
