Dear Andreus,

I was in a relationship for two years and I think I knew from the beginning that it wasn’t going to last, but I hung in there and tried to make it work. We broke up a few months ago. We are still friends, and he has been hinting lately at maybe working things out. I still love him dearly, but my trust and faith in something deeper is gone. I don’t want to hurt his feelings by telling him no. Should I give it another try? Please help.

Sincerely,

Armond C.

Dear Armond,

This does happen, and sometimes people change. Only you know the lengths that you are willing to go. It is possible that it could work this time, and it is of course possible that it may not. I would say, trust your gut. Also, consider what is most important to you. Do you wish to take the risk of trying again, or does the friendship that you have now mean more?  Either way, I would be honest with him. Avoiding the truth doesn’t help anyone.
