World AIDS Museum and Educational Center (WAM) and Galleria Fort Lauderdale are collaborating to honor World AIDS Day with two public events designed to raise awareness and voices in unison for global health! From today through December 10, the public is invited to view a portion of the AIDS Memorial Quilt which portrays powerful stories of activism, love, healing, hope and remembrance to connect the story of HIV/AIDS to the important issues impacting our nation, today. Some of your favorite local drag queens are coming together at 8pm for “Thanks to Drag” at The Manor to raise funds for community centered organizations. This event is sponsored by The Manor, Hunter’s Nightclub, and AIDS Healthcare Foundation. Community beneficiaries of the evening include SunServe, Renand Foundation, and Chainless Change. Special guests include title holders like Velvet Lenore (Miss Florida F.I. The Wilton Manors Business Association has announced its 2021 Business Leadership Award recipients which include, for the first time, a “Business of the Year” winner. “Through the Looking Glass Into a WMODA Wonderland” takes place today from 10pm to 4am. They are celebrating the 150th anniversary of Lewis Carrol’s famous fantasy fiction with a series of exhibitions and events featuring ceramics and glass inspired by the topsy turvy world experienced by Alice in Wonderland. The City of Aventura presents Michael Londra’s Celtic Yuletide today at 8pm at the Aventura Arts and Cultural Center. The Irish singer and Emmy nominee who is best known as the voice of Riverdance on Broadway, brings “Christmas from Ireland” to South Florida. Told in song, dance and the festive stories of his youth, the show includes heartwarming Irish carols like “Winter, Fire and Snow” and Gaelic versions of Christmas songs audiences love such as “Oiche Ciuin” (“Silent Night”) and his own popular carol “Beyond the Star.” Classical Irish musicians join Londra onstage as well as dancers from Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. The African Heritage Cultural Arts Center is presenting its fifth annual Art, Blues & Soul Festival during Art Basel Miami Beach today at 3pm.
